Operation Big
Brother in Riyadh
The Beta Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association of Riyadh had
successfully celebrated the 61st Founding Anniversary of our beloved
Fraternity (founded on July 14, 1946) and the Induction Ceremony for
the new set of officers of BSFAA Riyadh Chapter, which was held on
July 13, 2007 at Riyadh Palace
Hotel.
In line with our Fraternity’s 61st Anniversary Celebration, we
conducted the “Operation Big Brother” held at Bahay Kalinga in
Riyadh. Bahay Kalinga caters/shelters 140 Filipinas (our less
fortunate/stranded OFWs) in Riyadh. Having this OBB project and
with our own little way, has brought our Fraternity/Association
closer to the heart of our less fortunate “kababayans” at Bahay
Kalinga. Kudos to all our brods in Riyadh who offer and extended
their financial and generous support that benefited our less
fortunate “kababayans." Brods, you are the source of pride, not only
to your families, but to all of us Beta Sigmans and our Fraternity
as well. It was again an achievement to all of us, it was a move
that indulged an inspiration to our Fraternity.
Working together to fulfill our goals and in keeping our Association
to help our less fortunate "kababayans" are priorities, which we have
accomplished with pride. This only proves the level of solidarity
and the intensity of our determination to attain our noble and big
malmon hearted goals. It is also a gauge of the competence and
dynamism of our Fraternity, the cohesiveness and maturity of every
member. We Beta Sigmans should reinforce our determination to serve
our Fraternity, so we could be more effective in carrying out our
roles in our Fraternity, to our country and better achieve our goals
for our compatriots.
We would like to thank, His Excellency, Ambassador, Brod Atty.
Antonio Villamor for his full support and for fostering our
Fraternity to be an effectual entity of the Philippine Embassy in
Riyadh. With his guidance and support, we can continue to be
functional and effectual entity to attend not only the needs of our
fraternity brothers but also our kababayans in Riyadh (like our less fortunate
OFWs at Bahay Kalinga). Eradicating the dilemma for these less
fortunate OFWs is not an easy task. It is a collective enterprise
that requires the help, dedication, and commitment not just of the
government, but also all sectors of society down to the individuals.
We
are a part of it.
I'd like to thank also, Brod Edward Bangunan FEATI 76B
(Adviser/Council of Elders) for his untiring effort and full support
for the Association, for being around always, especially in
launching projects, programs and activities of the Association.
Thanks to Brod Ben Soledad NDJC'84A, Brod Armando Mariano
FEATI'78C, VGP Brod Kelvin Solaiman MSU'85A, Brod Ariel Tanghal
Lyceum Manila 89A, Brod Manny Quiambao GAUF79B, and to all brods in
Riyadh for their
participation and support in the preparation of the event!
Our occasion was also featured in ABS-CBN TFC's "Balitang Middle
East" on July 27, 2007 and was replayed on July 28, 2007.
